Calavera Fashion Show 2009
The 2009 Calavera Fashion Show at the Tropico de Nopal Gallery-Art Space may have been one of the most unique ways to spend the Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) holiday. The concept is to have multiple local artists create “walking altars” to display on a catwalk-style runway. The show combines fashion, social comentary, dance, and culture into a two-hour show.

The 2009 show featured some incredible artists, including Abel Alejandre, Edith Abeyta, Rosanna Arhens, Miguel Barragan, Joe Bravo, Consuelo Flores, Juana Flores, Linda Gamboa, Daniel Gonzalez, Cici Segura Gonzalez, Rebeca Guerrero, Marialice Jacob, Jose Lozano, Poli Marichal, Stephanie Mercado Reyes, Jennifer Gutierrez Morgan, Lilia Ramirez, Marianne Sawdosky, Robert Quijada, Orquidia Violeta, and J Michael Walker.
